Julie Mehretu has discovered abstract comics

by which I don't mean Abstract Comics, though that's always a possibility.

According to the article, she added to her large etching "a grid that divides the finished composition into 12 equal parts, a gesture that the artist said was intended as a kind of pacing not unlike a musical composition."

  1. I like her stuff, but I can't help wonder if getting paid 5 million dollars for a painting is similar in any way to simultaneously having an orgasm and a heart attack while freebasing moon dust off the small of the president's back. It's probably *better* than that.
